Blok 3: Colakreek – swimming in cola water and discover the wonderful Savannebos

The Colakreek park is 50 kilometres from Paramaribo. It is the ideal spot to relax in the cool creek or be active.

Colakreek owes its name to the dark brown water, which resembles cola. This dark brown colour does not mean the water is dirty, quite the contrary! This deep brown colour is caused by falling leaves, keeping pH-levels steady, which makes it safe to swim in. This natural swimming place in the middle of pretty Savanna landscape offers leisure facilities (among which a restaurant) as well as options for longer stays in comfortable holiday homes.

A stay at Colakreek can also be educational. Visit the Savanne Education Centre: it has fascinating information on the plants, wildlife and history of this area. Also, experience the beautiful Savanne through specially made walking, cycling and puzzle routes.

You will stay in a fine log cabin which suits a maximum of five guests, all mod cons. Hammocks can be rented.Camping hut
